Civica plc - Pre-Close Trading Update
Civica plc (”Civica” or “the company”), the software and services group focused on the public sector, today reported on trading for the year to 30 September 2004 ahead of preliminary results which will be announced on 14 December 2004.
The company is pleased to confirm that trading activity during the financial year has continued in line with the Group’s expectations, marking good progress over the previous year in both financial performance and business development. In particular cash generation continues to be strong.
Highlights during the period include:
- Continued success in ‘practitioner’ consultancy, resulting in 25 new customer engagements, including Revenues and Benefits management at North Norfolk District Council and a Customer Relationship Management project for Eden District Council
- 18 new local authority wins for Civica applications, including the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, East Sussex County Council and Blacktown City, the third largest Local Government area in Australia
- Further managed services contracts with 17 public organisations, including the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, City of Lincoln Council and Corangamite Regional Library Corporation in Australia
- Good progress in the Police sector including new number plate recognition systems for 13 Police forces across the UK and HM Customs & Excise
- The enhancement and re-branding of products and services under the common ‘Authority’ banner
- Completion of the £14.2 million acquisition of Radius Ltd to further strengthen Civica’s position in public sector systems delivery

Acquisition
The company is pleased to announce separately today that it has reached an agreement in principle to acquire the business and assets of Vehicle Intelligence Ltd, a specialist provider of consultancy and vehicle data management services to the UK Police market and other government organisations. The company is proposing to purchase the assets with existing cash resources, and integrate the operation within Civica’s Enforcement business unit.
