West Dunbartonshire advances electronic Government with help from Comino

West Dunbartonshire Council has chosen Public Sector IT specialist Comino to implement Workflow and Document Management. The contract, signed in November 2005, has seen West Dunbartonshire implement Comino’s Electronic Document Management (EDM) and Workflow product in both Council Tax Revenues and Housing Benefits sections, to improve processing speeds and paper management. Human Resources will go live by the end of February 2006.

Comino’s EDM and Workflow solutions help local authorities to meet the Modernising Government Agenda and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Performance Standards by centralising storage and electronically scanning, filing and managing council paperwork. West Dunbartonshire Council successfully secured funding from the DWP to help with the project.

“All councils have particular targets to meet and we are looking forward to how Comino will help us meet ours,” comments Jim Alexander, Manager of Infrastructure at West Dunbartonshire Council. “Electronically processing and storing our information will make a significant difference to the time it takes staff to solve customer queries. Workflow will allow Council services to streamline and optimise further their service provision to citizens of West Dunbartonshire.”

Comino’s solutions help to reduce manual administrative tasks, such as filing and application processing, by replacing paper-based systems with an electronic version. Staff are able to view, update and track applications electronically, promoting transparency and information sharing, while improving productivity and efficiency.
