Data Asset Management Platform Helps UK Organisations Gain Control Of Vital Assets
“Umbrella” data asset management service builds on partner relationships

Putney, February 13, 2007 - Large organisations can ensure better compliance with data protection legislation and changing corporate policy, at the same time as gaining better control of information assets, using a new data asset management platform from Civica, one of the UK’s leading providers of consulting, software and services.

Using the new service, senior executives from CEOs to departmental managers can visualise, manage and deliver compliance reporting for all their information assets: an Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) survey has estimated that information on the average working adult is already stored on 700 databases.¹

In addition, executives can use Civica’s new service to establish organisation-wide data archiving and information integrity strategies which will fully meet current and future legislative demands as well as changing corporate governance models.

The new data asset management platform builds on Civica’s ability to integrate the capabilities of its leading vendor partners to create a one stop, “umbrella” data management capability.  Civica has built on its long standing partnerships with Microsoft, CA and Hitachi Data Services to provide the integrated service model which underpins its new offering.

Civica’s innovation follows the company’s successful software licensing model. This enables organisations to reduce the operating costs of multiple software investments with the different service elements backed by Civica’s partnerships with leading vendors.

Steve Reynolds, managing director, Civica Services, says that senior managers can now tackle compliance issues head on: “UK organisations need to be 100% sure they are achieving compliance, whether with legislation, specific regulations, or simply best practice in re-centralising unstructured data residing on desktops.”

Reynolds also highlights operational and cost advantages: “Many organisations have to deal with compliance questions while running disparate back office data management systems. Managers must find new ways to gain better control of their assets and to reduce the costs of ongoing administrative and archiving resources. By bringing together storage and security under the umbrella of a data asset management platform, Civica delivers a strategic and cost effective way for large organisations to ensure compliance with current and emerging information governance issues.”
