WELCOME
Welcome to the Christmas edition of our quarterly newsletter which has news of the expansion of ‘old’ CPP in to ‘new’ CPPR – a change which brings with it some new products and benefits that all customers should be able to make use of.

It was great to see such a strong turnout at this year’s Stoke Rochford user group conference – as always the whole event was both uplifting and productive and I’d like to thank the organizers for doing such a great job in making it run so smoothly. If you need any info let us know at
cpp-sales@civica.co.uk

We live in difficult times and it’s good to know that the customer relationship remains as important to you as it does to us so I’ll close with one small request: every year we squeeze a huge amount of work in to the last 6 weeks of the year. We'd urge you to make sure you get dates secured as early as possible to guarantee that things can be delivered by the end of March!

Thanks and we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

COMPANY NEWS

Focus on Planning and Regeneration Solutions
Competitor performance in the Planning area seems to be dipping at an alarming rate! We’d like to hear from sites where APP is already used in other areas and where Planners/Building Control might like to see what they’re missing!

With wide ranging expectations for reform of the Planning System, the imperative is for flexible modern systems which facilitate new ways of working, Civica’s Planning and Building Control systems incorporate both Electronic Document Management and (optionally) Workflow tools which allow authorities to streamline and process applications much faster, passing tasks and information between staff and integrating with back office system. Data is handled efficiently across the organisation, delivering more responsive customer service and enhancing cross-department and multi-agency working. A new flyer detailing this will be available in the New Year.
PRODUCT NEWS
My Service Planning
Migrations from Civica Interactive Planning customers to MyService Planning continue apace, with authorities benefitting from the increased speed and convenience of the new solution.

The product removes the need to convert documents into PDF prior to publishing, reading the image directly from the image server to allow for use of the unique scaling and measuring facilities. Recent updates to the Planning Portal have also enabled the Adobe token to enable the Adobe scaling and measuring tools to be used with PDFs submitted through the portal.

MyService Planning is also available to APP Planning customers, giving real-time access to the data and documents required to provide a comprehensive Planning Register.

My Service Building Control
MyService Building Control provides a Building Control register which enables citizens to search for Building Control case details and (at the authority’s discretion) view the associated Documents, via the internet.

Implementing the solution reduces avoidable contact and contributes towards achieving NI14 aims.

MyService Building Control will also be available for real-time access to APP Building Control data in 2009.

Staff safety at work
We all have the right to work in an environment that is free from harassment or threat. One of the biggest challenges for Local Authorities in tackling this is the effective management and secure distribution of a register of aggressive or otherwise problematic individuals and dangerous locations. The latest addition to the Public and Partner Services web toolkits is an out of the box solution for ALL customers.

What does your role involve?
When I’m not on the road, I’m usually at the office in Bath or at my home office in London. I’m involved in sales of PPR, though my speciality and background is in Electronic Document Management and Workflow solutions.
What are the best aspects of your job?
It’s great to travel to various authorities dotted around the country and meeting such a spectrum of characters. It’s also really satisfying to see new clients enjoying the benefits of Civica’s fabulous solutions!
What is your favourite city?
Well I really love living in London, but as for foreign soils, I love the vibrancy and energy of New York. I ran the marathon there in 2007 and the support from the crowds was simply phenomenal.
NEW CUSTOMERS
Welcome
herefordshire logo
A big welcome to Herefordshire Council who have chosen Civica to provide them with software and services for a complete Public Protection system including Planning, Land Charges, Building Control, Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Private Sector Housing and Anti Social Behaviour. This new customer site follows others this year as far apart as Shropshire, Restormel (Cornwall), Solihull and the Orkney Islands.
EXTENDED SERVICES
Extra help in managing your Civica software.
In the last newsletter we told users about options for extending their support agreement to include extra days on site to help manage and develop the use of APP. Several sites have taken us up on this and we have included an option to add this to your annual support renewal for the next financial year.
