Southwark Council deploys solutions to manage its streets

Southwark is a recent success story in local government. In just 18 months, its executive team clocked up the most improved management record in London, turning a “weak” Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) rating by  the Audit Commission in December 2002 into a “good” one in June 2004. Jumping two places in the CPA, which assesses how well councils are run and serve their communities, is no small achievement and comes as a result of the council’s innovative long-term strategy for improving public services and making them more citizen-centric.
